Terms of Use of ZulePay AutoPay
Last updated: 9 September 2026 · Version: 1.0.0 · Effective date: 9 September 2026
1. About this document
These terms of use ("AutoPay Terms") govern recurring mandates and automatic payments ("AutoPay") on ZulePay — registering a mandate with a merchant or biller, automatic debits from your wallet, and amending or revoking mandates. They apply in addition to the General Terms and Conditions ("General Terms"), the Wallet Terms, the UPI Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Cancellation & Refund Policy. If there is a conflict, the General Terms prevail unless these AutoPay Terms provide otherwise. Capitalised terms used but not defined here have the meanings given in the General Terms.
2. The service
- AutoPay lets you pre-authorise a merchant or biller ("Mandate Merchant") to debit your Main Wallet automatically for recurring payments — subscriptions, bills, EMIs and similar — so you do not have to approve each payment manually.
- Mandates are created through the applicable mandate infrastructure (including NPCI UPI Autopay where the debit rail is UPI) and are subject to NPCI, RBI and partner-bank rules.
- The Mandate Merchant's own subscription or billing terms apply to the underlying service.
3. Registering a mandate
- When you register a mandate, you set (or approve) the maximum amount per debit, the frequency and the validity period, and authenticate the registration with your UPI PIN (for UPI Autopay) or your ZulePay Transaction PIN / biometrics as applicable.
- Registration details are shown to you before you confirm — review the mandate amount, merchant and validity carefully.
- A mandate is an instruction to debit your wallet up to the approved amount; it is not a guarantee of payment — debits still require sufficient balance and a wallet in good standing.
4. How debits work
- When the Mandate Merchant initiates a debit, you will receive a pre-debit notification within the timeline prescribed by the applicable rules, showing the amount, merchant and due date.
- If you do not want the debit, you must cancel or revoke the mandate before the debit date; a mandate once executed cannot be reversed unilaterally by us (see Section 6).
- A debit may fail if your balance is insufficient, your wallet is restricted, or risk controls or applicable rules prevent it. Failed debits may be retried per the mandate schedule; the Mandate Merchant may also pursue the dues through other channels.
- Debited amounts appear in your transaction history with the mandate reference.
5. Amending, pausing and revoking
- You may view, pause or revoke your mandates at any time in the app; revocation takes effect per the applicable infrastructure timelines. Neither we nor the Mandate Merchant can force an active mandate on you.
- Amount or frequency changes beyond the registered mandate require a fresh registration or a fresh approval from you.
- The Mandate Merchant may also amend or cancel a mandate per its terms and applicable rules.
- Revoking a mandate does not cancel your underlying subscription or contract with the Mandate Merchant; dues that accrue may still be payable, and service consequences (suspension of a subscription and similar) follow the Mandate Merchant's terms.
6. Refunds and disputes
- If a mandate debit is executed in error — above your approved amount, after revocation, or outside the mandate schedule — you may raise a dispute through the app or support@zulepay.com. Verified erroneous debits are refunded to your Main Wallet, and chargebacks under UPI Autopay rules follow NPCI's dispute timelines.
- Disputes about the underlying service or amount billed are between you and the Mandate Merchant; we will assist with records and, where available, the applicable dispute channels.
7. Expiry and closure
- Mandates expire at the end of their validity period unless renewed. Expired mandates cannot be executed.
- On closure of your wallet or account (Section 21 of the General Terms), active mandates are revoked automatically; accrued dues may still be recoverable by the Mandate Merchant through other lawful channels.
8. Fees
AutoPay is currently free for customers. If a fee is introduced, it will be shown before you register a mandate and may be revised per Section 16 of the General Terms.
9. Security and regulatory notes
- Never share your UPI PIN, Transaction PIN or OTP. ZulePay never asks for your UPI PIN (see the UPI Terms).
- Mandates are subject to NPCI's UPI Autopay procedural guidelines, RBI directions and partner-bank rules, as amended from time to time; changes required by them may take effect from the date they prescribe.
- Grievances follow Section 29 of the General Terms.
